Since the Gainesville Hurricanes was founded in 2010, its mission and focus as a non-profit club has been to provide expanded opportunities for youth to play and enjoy the game of basketball, support the development of character, sportsmanship and advance the visibility of youth basketball in Gainesville, Va. as well as the surrounding areas. We have continued to grow over the years to expand beyond, just AAU teams, but to offer training clinics tournaments, 3v3 Shootouts as well as the addition of the Hurricanes Crossover League.
We focus not only on the development of the players, but for our coaches as well. All Hurricanes AAU/Travel coaches must complete the VHSL and NFHS coaching curriculum. This is the same training that High School coaches must complete. Our travel teams also subscribe to all AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) guidelines and are required to become members of the AAU.
